Natural Fertility

Fertility treatments have always been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, these are linked into your normal menstrual cycle and aim to boost the energy channels that are relevant to fertility and pregnancy. I also ran pre-conceptual care clinics as a Midwife, we would give advice on screening and diet. Today there is even more information about diet and life style changes and how this can influence your fertile cycle.

Sub- fertility has a variety of causes, improving your health and that of your partner can only improve your chances, in some cases that is all that is needed.

Acupuncture for IVF Treatment

The choice of points used during your IVF treatment will be based on two separate areas, firstly the type of person you are, based on a Chinese medicine point of view, secondly the stage of the IVF cycle you are in.

The IVF  cycle can cause side effects  such as night sweats, thirst, distended abdomen and mood swings in some women, so we can treat these problems if they arise. During the treatment, your consultant will use medication to stimulate the ovaries, at this time I can use points intended to enhance egg production, or nourish uterine blood after implantation. During embryo transfer, research has suggested that The German Protocol of points may increase success rates from 26.3% to 42.5%, but there is always the need for further research to confirm these findings.
