Joint and Back Pain
Muscle and Joint Pain
Acupuncture using needling, warming moxabustion and electro acupuncture are all techniques designed to give immediate, prolonged and sustained relief from lower back pain. They work by allowing muscles and joints to relax, helps the body draw blood and Endorphins or ‘feel good hormones’ to the area, providing pain relief and helping to increase the bodies own production of natural steroids, which will calm the inflammation and help the area to heal.
If the problem is a chronic one, using Acupuncture helps stimulate the nerve pathways and restore the healing process in that area.
It may also help with long term problems such as numbness in the lower part of the body. (Nerve compression may also cause numbness and I recommend your Doctor examines you before I commence treatment.) Sciatica, a side effect of lower back pain, responds well to Acupuncture, and is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Effectiveness (NICE).
I would hope to help relieve your pain within 3 sessions, however if the pain has been present for many years then it may take more than 6 sessions. If you have had pain for many years you may need a top- up session a couple of times a year to stay pain free.
As part of your treatment I also use Moxabustion (a needle free treatment using a heated herb near the skin),clients love the warm feeling in permeating the muscle. Cupping is another needle free treatment to relax muscles and tendons. If Electro- Acupuncture is used the sensation is controlled by the client and feels like a tingling under the skin.
Other Joint/Muscle Problems
Some diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis can cause weakness and tiredness in the body in general. Acupuncture can help improve energy by increasing Serotonin levels to help with aching or spasms.
Arthritis and Rheumatism can be helped by reducing swelling and stiffness. I have been successfully helping patients use Acupuncture to manage their condition since I started working with Acupuncture.
