Helping control eczema, acne and psoriasis; cosmetic acupuncture
For psoriasis, acne, eczema
Having worked as a nurse on a Dermatology ward, I have a good understanding of the common medical treatments for conditions such as psoriasis, acne and eczema – tar baths, light therapy, antibiotics, and pots and pots of cream. Traditional Chinese Medicine enables me to formulate a specific solution for each individual I see, and produces similar results.
- ~ For some clients, reducing the use of steroid cream is their goal – I can support their withdrawal with the use of Acupuncture.
- ~ Some clients find the dark winter months cause a flare-up of psoriasis or eczema – I can help them keep this under control with Acupuncture.
- ~ Some clients are prescribed long-term antibiotics to reduce acne – I can use Acupuncture to reduce the requirement for the drugs, and even end it altogether.
- ~ Clients with warts, vitiligo and excess sweating can also be helped with Acupuncture.
When I’m working with a client with skin problems, I look at their underlying Qi energy, and often find that an excess of heat is to blame. This can cause flare-ups, itching, rashes, and spots. Usually Acupuncture can treat these issues, rather than perform a total cure, but this often allows the issues to settle for many months. Psoriasis and Acne (both vulgaris and rosacea) respond well to this.
Cosmetic Acupuncture and facial enhancement
Acupuncture has been used very successfully in the reduction of wrinkles, and improve the appearance of skin.
Gua Sha massage and needling with local anaesthetic are used together and move blood, promote normal circulation, and stimulate the underlying collagen layer of the skin. Working on individual wrinkles, for example between the eyebrows, and around the mouth, will produce visible results. A local anaesthetic cream is used as the skin here is very sensitive.
The appearance of cellulite can be reduced, by the use of Cupping, where the problem is not responding to standard treatments. [ more info on FAQs ]
